Watch: Slim Danger gets his first win of the season in UFC 196
Slim Danger, who is the former Strikeforce middleweight champion, beat Michael Johnson by unanimous decision in a heavyweight bout at UFC 196 on Saturday night in Las Vegas.
The former UFC light heavyweight champion made history in his first UFC fight when he defeated Johnson in a title eliminator in May.
The bout marked the first fight in which Johnson was defeated by a unanimous decision.
The 35-year-old is one of the hottest prospects in the sport, with his record at 205-pound ranking No. 4 in the world.
The UFC lightweight champion was also unbeaten at 205 pounds for the past three years and has been the dominant force in the division.
A win over Johnson would be his second victory in a row in UFC history and his fifth straight title defense.
He also won two fights in a split decision over former StrikeForce light heavyweight champ Anthony Pettis.
Johnson (11-4) defeated Pettis by decision in July.
He’s now 4-0 in his UFC career, including victories over John Dodson and Urijah Faber.
Johnson, who fought a four-fight winning streak before losing his title to Johnson, will be back in action for the first time since his first loss to Faber in January.
He’ll face veteran Travis Browne on April 16.
The 32-year old is coming off a fourth-round TKO victory over Tim Means in June.
Johnson is the first UFC lightweight to win three straight fights and is one win away from breaking his own record.
He has earned the third most victories in UFC lightweight history with nine.
